First-time traveler mode
Your first trip abroad, without the anxiety.
If you've never travelled internationally before, the unknowns are the scary part — not the trip itself. Here's the whole journey laid out calmly, in order. Then pick a destination and we'll build you a dated checklist for it.
Get your documents right
This is what trips people up most. Sort it weeks ahead, not the night before.
- Passport valid at least 6 months beyond your return date (many countries refuse entry otherwise).
- Check whether you need a visa for your passport — every destination on Razazu shows this for you.
- Print and screenshot: visa/e-visa, hotel bookings, return ticket, travel insurance.
Money & proof of funds
Many visas and immigration officers want to see you can support your trip.
- Keep recent bank statements (often 3–6 months) — some visas require them.
- Have a rough daily budget in mind; our city reports estimate this for you.
- Carry two payment methods (a card plus some local cash) in case one fails.
Book flights & hotels safely
Avoid the classic first-timer mistakes before you pay.
- Book through reputable sites; never wire a deposit to a private account for a rental.
- Match your hotel to transit and, if it matters to you, halal-friendly areas.
- Leave buffer time between connecting flights — 2+ hours internationally.
At the airport, step by step
The process is the same almost everywhere once you know the order.
- Check in (online or at the desk) → drop bags → security → passport control → gate.
- Liquids in carry-on: 100ml containers in a clear bag. Laptops out at security.
- Be at the gate before boarding closes — it shuts earlier than you'd expect.
Immigration: what they may ask
It's routine. Answer simply and honestly; have your papers ready.
- Why are you visiting, how long, where are you staying, when do you leave.
- Have your hotel address and return ticket on hand.
- Fill in any arrival/landing card before you reach the desk.
Money on the ground
Don't get fleeced at the airport exchange counter.
- Airport exchange rates are the worst — change a small amount, more in the city.
- Tell your bank you're travelling so your card isn't blocked.
- Use official taxis or a rideshare app from the airport, not touts.
Stay connected
Land with working internet so maps and translation just work.
- Install an eSIM before you fly (each city report links one).
- Download offline maps and a translation app for your destination.
- Save your hotel address and local emergency numbers offline.
Common scams to sidestep
A handful of tricks repeat worldwide. Knowing them is half the defence.
- 'It's closed today' steering you to a paid tour or shop — check official hours yourself.
- Taxi meter 'broken' / overcharging — insist on the meter or use an app.
- Money-changer shortchanging — count cash before you leave the counter.
